State Department Heads gather in 'The Bunker'
News

Local municipalities like Schoharie and beyond are listening closely to the advice and news sent down from the top: New York State.

The State Emergency Operations Center is nicknamed “The Bunker” for a reason.

Underneath the depths of a state office complex in Albany is where department heads from all over the state gather during times like this for the very latest information and updates.

It's underground and made of cinder block.

And once the emergency operations center is activated, it is buzzing.

There were representatives from the New York State Police, Department of Environmental Protections, AG and markets, Department of Health, and FEMA just to name a few.

Just before NewsChannel13 arrived, the agencies received a briefing from their boss, Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is currently downstate with planned stops in Queens and Long Island.

Representatives from Homeland Security were also present and active at "The Bunker."

So New York State is also in touch with the Federal Government.
