CSX unveiled the first GenSet locomotive in New York State in 2009 at its Oak Point Yard in the Bronx, where the unit currently operates. CSX has invested more than $1.5 billion to improve the environmental footprint of its locomotive fleet and, since 1980, has reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 90%.
Guests and members of the media got guided tour of the GenSet locomotive this morning. CSX representatives were on-site to discuss the environmental benefits of rail and network operations.
