TVHS students receive tutoring from Sage students

The tutoring program with Tech Valley High School and Sage College was launched earlier this year and matches college student in work study programs with Tech Valley High School students who need help with a subject.

According to a statement, the program is the brainchild of TVHS teacher Jen Hower and Andrea Pike, library commons specialist at The Sage Colleges. The college students meet with TVHS students during school hours.

"It came about through a brainstorm session between Andrea and I on how to better help the students. It's sort in a trial run stage right now, but we expect it to expand in the fall with we hope to be more organized with tutors in the class and after school," said Hower.

The Sage students are all working towards varying degrees including Chinese studies, physics, math and physical therapy and some have expressed an interest in teaching.
